Partnerships

The ASF committee for 2018-2019 are Maddie, Christian, Daniel, Nikola, Amelia and Eoghan. They have been working very hard to make our school more active.

Some of the work they do includes:

  • organising the activity zones
  • bringing the equipment in and out at break time
  • demonstrating what to do in the activity zones
  • keeping track of how many kilometres each class has run in the Tour of Europe Challenge
  • organising Active School Week

Some pupils conducted a ‘What Club Are You in? ‘ survey to find out about physical activity opportunities in the local community.

The sports achievements of our pupils  achieved during and outside of school hours are recognised and celebrated in our whole school assemblies.

We have made contact with our local Sports Partnership, local HSE Health Promotion Officer and the local Sports Inclusion Disability Officer. Any information we receive from them is shared with staff and/or displayed on our ASF noticeboard.

On October 10th Pupils from 3rd and 4th class took part in an FAI Futsal programme in Clondalkin Leisure Centre.

During September and October we were fortunate enough to have a hockey coach from Glennane Hockey club come in and do some training sessions with all the classes.

In January and February a Leinster Rugby coach did  4 tag rugby sessions with all the classes:

In February we began our annual participation in the South Dublin Schools X Country series. All senior pupils took part in the event at Clondalkin Leisure Centre in February, March and April and the final in Corkagh Park on 16th May.

On March 20th the PTA organised for a yoga instructor to come in and do a session with each class.

2017/2018

Spar FAI Primary School 5s

On March 13th 2018, two teams went from our school to take part in this event. There were seven children on each team. It was held at Irishtown stadium. Each team played five games. The event was well organised. The children thought it was a great day out and it was a great way to meet other children from other schools.

South Dublin Cross Country

All pupils in 3rd to 6th class took part in a local cross-country event at Clondalkin leisure centre in February, March and April. On May 17th everyone took part in the cross-county finals which was held in Corkagh Park.
